In their 10 day travel forecast, The Weather Channel is predicting SNOW showers in the Atlanta area for next Monday-Tuesday, Dec 17 & 18. Wishful thinking?

No hint yet from NOAA/ NWS, which is only predicting temperatures above normal and precipitation below normal for the next 14 days. Ho hum!

Like all media\news services, they make their money with advertising dollars. With so much benign weather this year, they're probably losing money. No hurricanes, the drought's been whipped to death; they have to look for some other sensational, viewer-grabbing stories.

They cut the snow for our forecast, yesterday. Now it's 'few showers'.

I'll take precipitation in any form! Well, actually ice is pretty bad, I could skip that ....

Doesn't seem like it's going to be a normal month at all.

We had a week in the late 80's when I wore shorts and had light snow in the same week. It could happen. but when was the last time they predicted snow a week in advance and got it right? I'll believe it when I see it.

The year before last we had an ice storm around this time. No thanks! But I will take some snow. It hasn't snowed here in a long time.

Unfortunately it looks like the forecast has changed. I don't think they can see that far in advance but instead it is a random smattering of weather icons based on averages from previous years.

I wonder sometimes about the Weather Channel forecasts.
Often seems like a meteorological form of "Pin-the-Tail-0n-the-Donkey".
I rarely tune the channel in anymore, as advertising seems to be their major content.

Luckily the weather chan does everything at precisely the same time every day or every hour. So if you only want to watch one segment like the tropical update then you can tune in at the time that comes on or better yet with the dish receiver I have from my satellite provider it can be set to autmatically tune in at any time you want. And it can automatically tune in at a regular basis so you set it once and never have to fool with it again.

Or you can just watch the video on any number of weather websites like accuweather or the weather channel.

So much for it raining today. Since the weekend it said chance of precip whas high. Up until last night it was still at 40%.
Now it has dropped to 20%. We all know what that means.
I should have known better. We have 2 more weeks until our monthly rain.

It rained a little here at GA400xMcFarland, but only briefly.

Boy, it sure would be nice to see a couple of inches of snow here. The kids would love it!

We apparently had rain last night. I have to check my rain barrels to see how much.

Yes I must give credit where credit is due. It rained here a pretty respectable amount actually. Now we need to see what will happen for Saturaday at the moment it says 80% chance.

No rain yesterday on my dusty patch of desert, but did receive a shower Sunday afternoon. when one of those fast track dark clouds came over. Since there isn't much foliage overhead, some of it actually reached the ground!
The promise of some moisture on Saturday, encouraged me to get out of the house and plant a few things.
My eager ambition far exceeded my stamina though and after 3 days of wielding a rake and shovel, I was a real party pooper at our annual garden club Christmas dinner this past evening. Some other members must have had shovel fever also, since only about two-thirds of those that committed, actually showed up.:>(
Guess it's time to have my car washed again. Last time I did, it rained the next day.
