A proper warning.......

I spotted this scene yesterday around 7:30 in the morning. If one believes the saying, then we should have been prepared for the icy stuff this morning! I hope everybody is safe.

That looks like a much different scene than where I am. Then again since there was no power, I had frozen into a giant icecube and couldn't really see the sky.

WOW is right. Early yesterday morning a big limb broke off my neighbor's 60 ft pine tree, went through my roof and crashed into my bedroom. That was my warning. I prefer red skies at morning. It's no fun brushing plaster and insulation out of your teeth. It sticks to the toothpaste - yuk.

Alan, that's a beautiful picture. Scary though... Do you have any predictions for this winter? Is it going to be worse than usual as far as ice and cold temps?

Sugarhill, SHEEEZ, I'm with you, I'd much prefer red skies too!! I just can't imagine the initial shock of something like that! I'm glad you're well enough to be here to tell us about it.

Wildflower, frankly, I couldn't imagine trying to predict what the weather will do this winter! A month ago I was thinking we were in store for an even milder winter than usual. This December is starting out colder than any December in my records. I've had 11 freezes thus far, which surpasses the entire monthly totals for 1997, 1998 and 2001. My record is 20 in 2000.

Number of Freezes through first 16 days of December...
1997: 5
1998: 0
1999: 6
2000: 7
2001: 0
2002: 1
2003: 6
2004: 4
2005: 11

Thank you for the compliments on the picture. I was so excited when I spotted it, I ran outside with camera in hand standing by the side of the road clicking furiously! Of course that was the really busy time for traffic so I had a lot of company while I was out there. I would guess by now my neighbors aren't surprised to see me outside at odd hours taking pictures!

Sugarhill- thank God you're safe! I think you must be counting your blessing, even tho you have a major repair. Too close for comfort! BTW, package in mail Monday! Just throw in frig til you can get to it!

My husband and I were so impressed with the sunrise you got a photo of, that we actually called each other on our cell phones that morning! Little did we know, eh? Even being with out power for a day so disrupting!
