Well it's good to see you over here on the GA forum!!! I have the same problem and use ultra-fine horticultural oil mixed with water. I believe the brand is "Sunspray". You'd have to read the label since there are several plants that don't like this stuff. All that comes to mind right now is ajuga, but I don't remember it being a very long list...Normally I have to spray 2 or 3 times to completely wipe them out.

I heard from a very reliable source (Walter) that you could get rid of ants with black pepper. I know it works on rabbits.

Dimotaceous earth. Well, I spelled it wrong, but it works in our greenhouse at church! I sprinkle it in along all the edges and corners and eventually they all walk thru it.

I hope that you don't misinterpret the suggestion about the horticultural oil to mean that you should drench your containers with it. That wouldn't be a good thing!!!

I repeat myself from the Alabama forum, but I'd like to know a few more things before we hook you up with the smartest and safest solution to this common problem.

I find the ants tend to erradicate other pests in the greenhouse so I let them be. They mostly take up residence in cactus bowls and succulents that require less water in my greenhouse and they don't damage anything so why bother?
