This year I purchased my heirloom garlic from Bobbett's - Naturally Grown Produce. I found them through www.localharvest.org which is a great place to shop for local organic products of all kinds. About the store bought. That is a good question! You might try to out it in a dark, warm spot (like under your kitchen sink) and see if it happens to sprout. If you get something going you could try to put it into some rich organic soil. Preferably a raised bed that you already have established and then cover it well with garden grade mulch. (grass clippings and leaves) They will work througout the winter building a root system before coming up in the Spring. Please let me know how you make out
