Okinawan Sweet Potatoes

Hello! While browsing at a nursery I decided to pick up a 4in Okinawan Sweet Potato plant. I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into, just thought it would be a nice addition to my container garden. 3 weeks later, the plant has grown to 10 times its original size and is covered in new shoots! It has taken over most of the container I planted it in (about 10 gallons). I don't know if I should pull it out and start over in a larger container or if it will be ok as it is. Does anyone have experience growing these sweet potatoes in containers? What is a good size? When should I harvest them? What kind of fertilizer do they prefer? Is it normal for them to grow out of control in Hawaii? Any advice would be very much appreciated!
