Get a long and skinny picture, like the area of the wall. I like looking at www.art.com for inspiration, like this: http://www.art.com/frameStep/?pd=8341503590&sp=a&apnum=7373685&PODConfigID=0&EmailID=&FID=&ui=C164533EB81745CD8E4406F2EF481C7D&customerzoneid=3 and I realize you said you don't want to get something specifically for the space...but if you did get something, think of it's potential spaces it could go in in the future. That's what I've done all along and I am happy I get to use the pictures I love in different settings.

Bobbi P is right that the pictures are too big. If they were about 4" narrower, they'd look fabulous there. However, that would be expensive to change, so could they go on the wall over the sink? To the left of the window, you could consider hanging from the ceiling a fern such as shown below.

I would soften up the space with a tall, espaliered (trained to grow against a flat plane) lemon or lime tree to bring the eye up, the branches could even cross in front of your window a little to add dimension. Yummy for drinks and dishes too!
