When I excavated our homesite out of the side of the hill, it looked like the red clay tennis courts I had seen on TV when I was done. I spent a couple grand on importing three way soil so I could hydroseed a lawn around the house, and planned on terracing the banks later, when I could commit to a game plan. But I was a little upset when the grass starting growing, it had grown on the red clay banks where the guy oversprayed the hydroseed as well. If I would have known that, I could have saved a few bucks! I am still unsure how I am going to landscape the steep rough cut red clay banks, and I am fishing for ideas, and suggestions from anyone who has attacked a similar project. I do have a pretty good sized pile of red volcanic boulders from the dig out that I plan on including in the design, but not enough to retain all of it.
