Have you tried tightening it? Is it old, new, been abused, etc? Sounds like it's got too much slop in the chain, and if you are using it for cutting brush, the chain will pop right off. Sometimes the sprocket in the end of the bar will sieze a little when it gets hot and the chain will run itself off. May want to provide some details (make, model, condition, and what it's being used for and try the Tool Shed Forum (in this group) to get a quicker answer.
