Green Fruit?????

Hi,

This may be an incredibly stupid question, but I'm just going to throw it out there. We have 4 tropical hibiscus trees that we overwinter inside in Wisconsin. They spend the summer outside. Last night one fell over in the wind, and when we picked it up we found a hard, medium-green fruit thing, about the size of a small lime. Looks kind of like a lime but smoother, more firm, and slightly different shape on the ends. Is there any way this came from the hibiscus plant?? We can't figure out what it is. The plant has yellow blooms. It has produced seeds before but those come out of small brown pods where the flowers were--nothing like this thing. Thanks!
