Do Suckers Bear Fruit?

I had a beautiful Kaffir Lime Tree that recently gave it up to a couple of consecutive, very cold winters. I had cut it back, and much to my delight a couple of vigorous suckers have sprung up from the stump. Kaffir Limes are hard to find and rather expensive so I'm looking forward to nourishing it back to what it was.

However someone just mentioned to me that suckers may grow, but are unlikely to produce fruit. I'm too much of a novice to know one way or the other so I'm looking for advice.

Cheers,

Big Daddy
