Sage doesn't need much water but not all containers and soil are the same so I really can't say if that is a good amount of water or not.

But I can say that sage is a woody plant. In my experience all woody plants take time to set their roots and get "happy" before doing any serious growing. Give it time. It is not like basil.

Hi janelee81. How big was your sage plant when you planted it, and how long has it been?

Just as a reference, I grew my sage from seed this year. I sowed the seeds in mid-May, and they grew very slowly. When I transplanted them to their individual 4-inch containers after about 6 weeks, each plant was about 4-6 inches tall. In the last 3 weeks, they probably only grew another 1-2 inches. It seems pretty slow, especially compared to annuals like basil, but they are definitely growing.

My sage plants haven't reached their "woody" stage yet, like my oregano and thyme from last year have. So I'm thinking that maybe it takes a whole year before they get to that woody and hardy stage where they take off and become more bush-like.

I planted my sage from seed indoors under an led grow light. It's about 4-5 inches tall with 4 leaves each on 2 plants. It's been weeks and it seemed to stop growing. Any ideas?

It probably needs to go outside for some fresh air.
