Can't you pull the sectional away from a least one wall a foot? That would give you room for a sofa table with a lamp.

I like pcmom's idea. You can also put an up light (canned light on the floor) in the corner. Or, you can hang on the wall (on both walls) a long led picture light. Just be sure to get a strip to hide to cord on the wall and paint the strip the wall color. I like the look of layered light. The sofa table, picture light, and floor canned light. I also think you'd like canned ceiling lights..but the others are the next best.

I am suggesting to add a candle lamp or the one that does not die out immediately. You preferred to do not have to wire anything. So that is why I was thinking this can help. You can also position an arc floor lamp to bring light to the center of the sectional.

It would appear that the sofa is jammed against the wall. Not done. Pull it out at least 4 inches.

An arc lamp can be placed at the right end of the sofa (right side of the photo) which will light the middle. I've seen them at "big box stores" or you can search online. Avoid a stainless finish; it won't go with your current decor.

Thank you for all of the comments. Unfortunately I can't pull the couch out from the wall because of the hall way that is not pictured on the right end (facing couch) of the couch. Thus my dilema. I tried an arc lamp. Didn't work. I have a lamp on the left end table, one across the room on another table and a canned light above the fireplace (not shown) but because we don't get any natural light in the room it still feels very dark and dreary.

I solved the problem by attaching a retro arm lamp right in the corner, the kind you attach to an art drawing table. They move in either direction, great for reading.

How about a black corner shelf, in keeping with your wall decor, for an uplight can. You can drill a hole in it for the cord which you can cconceal with a strip painted the same color as the wall. I know you want to avoid wiring, but the optimal solution would be a small light track above which should not be terribly expensive for someone to install.

Is a skylight an option for you? This isn't just about darkness at night, you said room gets no natural light.

We also had a dark living room and added two Solar Tubes over the darkest corners: helped so much! Also, had a dark hallway and we replaced the three hallway ceiling lights with Solar Tube/light combos.

You could always put in a skylight in that area to light it up more.

There are wall sconces that have are not wired into the wall but plug in.(I bought some from Home Depot) Hopefully you have an electrical plug somewhere behind that long expanse of couch . Hang a large rectangular mirror above couch (will reflect any other light in room) and place the light sconces on either side. On the other wall hang a large picture to balance things. All the little things that you have on the wall now are out of scale with the large sofa. Good luck!

I think that's the perfect spot for an arc lamp.

If there isn't enough room, putting it on either side would work too.
