Wow, it's August

Still can't keep up with you guys. I'm outside digging

( again) and it is getting too hot, so I'm taking a break.

Went back to Curt Hanson's place last Tuesday, and it was another great trip. Came back with 7 more!!! This time I brought back Enola Gay, a late bloomer, but no pictures cause I didn't take my camera (?) and Curt cut off the flower scapes!! YIKES. He was going to town cutting off the foliage after he dug for us and cut the scapes too!! Of course we screamed in terror, (quietly) !! and then I actually put my hands on the scapes on the next one so he wouldn't cut it. what was I thinking, it is a good thing I came home with ten fingers! He probably thought I was nuts! Oh well, want to enjoy the bloom while I can. I also got Excursions in Ambiance a midlate bloomer that is a very ruffled pink, it had lots of bloom. Pearls Before Swine, listed as a mid, and it had the last of it's bloom, but I really liked it. Romulan Defector, also a mid, with the last blooms on it, interesting one. Saucerful of Secrets, early mid, with just a few last blooms on it, but it caught my eye. ( and I went there to get late bloomers!!ha) He then gave us The Holo Deck, a mid late that had tons of bloom on it, but was too expensive for me that day, but we kept admiring it, so he gave it as a bonus!! Also got Joan Derifield as a bonus. Once again he was very generous, with fan numbers and the bonus. A few late and mid late ones that were just gorgeous and loaded with buds and blooms were

Mediterranean Sailor, mid late, Unfolding Paradox mid late, which he couldn't dig cause he was using it to cross,

Afterglow of Love, which my sister in law got, and it is a very late, was loaded with buds, and is gorgeous.

Aegean Wind was blooming away.

Soul in Ice, mid late, sister in law got it.

Theraputic Touch, mid late, bloom and buds on it

So now I have an even longer list and had to make a new area just for my Hanson's that I will get next summer. This is what I have been digging!!!

I also extended this bed out a bit.

This is what I have blooming today in my gardens, I only had 27 in bloom today, that is so few out of the mere 371 that I have now!! boohoo. Oh well, Here is The Holo Deck , it is listed in the AHS data base as Hollow Deck, but that isn't what Curt is calling it.

Here is Candie Dwyer, showing off today, this one is listed as a mid, but for some reason is just now blooming with the lates.

Gotta love Autumn Wood

New Series has been a blooming machine, and today it did this!!

this is the FFO on Grape Pretender, a bonus from Maryott. I really like it and I'm sure it will be simply beautiful once it is established. this was just planted beginning of July.

Last bloom on Mask and Metaphor, I really do love this one

Orchid Corsage doing it's thing

Psalter and Harp, one of my last to bloom

And of course, Bowie, this morning waiting for me to sit down next to him.

You really have some lovelies. I love Bowie pictures. I think orchid corsage is such a pretty "girly" bloom. It has such a delicate appearance. Candie Dwyer is really pretty and so is Grape Pretender, but I think I like Holo Deck the best of all.

    Your beds are really attractive.

Bowie looks deep in thought. I wonder what he thinks about as you are out there digging up new gardenbeds all the time.

Your trip to Curt Hanson's sounds marvelous. Especially this time as you are able to see and pick the real late bloomers. It is the late bloomers that I would be interested in if I were there :-))

I have to admire your new area and expanded gardenbed. The only reason I am not doing the expanding thing is because I have no room to do so. Yours looks great, going to be marvelous when it blooms.

All the daylily flowers are lovely but my favorites are New Series, very striking, and Psalter and Harp, love that glowing color.

So glad you went back to Curt's. He does have some awesome daylilies to choose from. I also got SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS and it bloomed here. Didn't get the pinching but it is new so maybe next year.

I know next year JOAN DERIFIELD will be clumping up nicely. I also got RED SLEEVED WARRIOR which just started blooming here a few days ago. Been so busy haven't upload the pic yet.

Glad to see Bowie pic. He is such a gentleman.

Cindy - Thanks for letting us know what was blooming at Curt's. I'm definitely going to get Unfolding Paradox. After seeing Chris's photo, hearing it still has a lot of buds and knowing Curt is STILL hybridizing with it. I love your photos of Autumn Wood and Orchid Corsage, both of which I have, and the bright color on Psalter and Harp, which I don't have.

Bowie found the perfect to pose for you. LOL

It's hard to a pick a favorite. So many pretty faces still blooming away there. I love that pic of Orchid Corsage. Grape Pretender and Candy Dwyer look wonderful too. Bowie has that "Another bed? You can't be serious." look on his face. lol

The Hanson cultivars are some of my faves in my garden! So nice that you can pop over there anytime you want! Your garden space is just beautiful Cindy! The hard work is definitely paying off. Bowie is adorable, looks like he's recovered well after that showdown pic of him and the statue....LOL

I love your garden. It's so well laid out and organized. Can't pick a favorite daylily. There are too many nice ones. SOme of my favorite daylilies are Hanson's.
Looks like Bowie wants you to pay attention to him and not the daylilies.
BTW I have a picture of Enola Gay in my garden that I plan to post as soon as I get a chance.
