I keep crashing!

When I try to post anything, my computer keeps crashing. Not just here but on all programs when I get a message started, down it goes. So...I apologize for neglecting you all!!

We had about 6 1/2 inches of rain and it came in torrents so we have lots of erousion here. Also, we had some horrendous wids that were really scary and they caused lots of limbs and debris in the yard. I am gradually trying to clean that out and have lots of "piles" in the yard to load onto the cart. Have a great day ya'll...Ellie

Oh, Ellie. I hate it when the computer goes bonkers. Here's hoping yours is going to behave from now on.

That is a lot of rain but at least the daylilies will be happy to have it.

Hi Ellie. WE had a little less than 6 inches of rain, and I have the litter to gather up too. The rain was such a blessing, however. I am sorry your computer is misbehaving.

Sometimes the computer may be running out of memory and therefore crashes and you have to reboot. Most times, if using windows, you will get a message telling you the memory is low.
You may also want to clean out your temporary/recent history file.
The last tip, do a Disk Defragmenter. You will most likely find this under your system tools.

Hope you find a solution.

Rita, bonkers it is! The dayliles are jumping for JOY!!LOL!!

Kay, I still have debris to remove but you are right. The rain was a blessing and I am not complaining!!

Julia, it's none of those things. It didn't need defraging and I keep the history cleaned. Also, I have tons of memory since I store everything on an external harddrive. 2 in fact. I did a disc check for errors and it seems to be working right now. It's a program I have on my pc or it's about to die..one or the other, I suspect. It shuts now without warning, right when I'm in the middle of something...

Thanks for your input ladies....Ellie

If the computer itself is acting bonkers and then crashing regardless of what program you are running, it might just be overheating. Check to see if there is a build-up of dust that is interfering with air flow, and listen to see if the fan still sounds like it is running properly.

Ellie,

Working memory isn't the same as storage memory.

Done a virus scan recently?

Casey, I have it fixed now but your advice was good. It was the power supply..

Deanna, I know they aren't the same. I did have her add a memory stick, ( 1 gig) though because I was having a slight problem with the virtual memory.. This desktop is a windows xp and I like it because of some programs that won't run on the windows 7. I have W7 on my laptop. I don't like it much though...I run a full system scan every 2 or 3 days.

Thanx for all the good feedback....Ellie
