Really bad omen

Of all times for this to happen. I am presently at my oldest daughters house with my right leg in a demobilized and on crutches. I'd let my dog out and took a walk to check my hostas. I tripped on my garden hose and stretched all the lligaments.from my quads to my knee cap. I have yet to see the orthopedist yet, but it looks like little gardening for me for a while.

At least nothing was broken. Foortunatry I have two hosta daughters who can help withmy gardens once I can travel. Maybe now I will take the time to master posting my pictures. Lol

In the meantime I will be watching you all on HF with envy.

I'm on mher iPod so forgive my typos.

Well, like you said, the bright side is that you can learn to do photos.

    Glad you're basically OK.

Sorry to hear about your accident. It is good to hear that you will have help in taking care of things while you recover. I look forward to seeing your pictures this year.

    Get well soon!

Hope you have a few great vantage points where you can sit and watch them grow! Mend quickly.

The first thing to ask the hosta daughters to do is:

    Put...the hose...away.

    Praying for your speedy recovery.

Oh no, that's terrible!! I hope you feel better soon!

My reason for this posting was to be a warning against being lazy and not putting the hose away, but I ran out of energy. Thanks for the well wishes, and let me be a lesson that protects you all from a similar fate. At least I broke or tore nothings that I know of so far.

Sorry to hear about your accident, Les, but glad you weren't injured more seriously. I know it will be a bummer for you not to out in your hosta garden, but take good care of yourself so you don't do anything permanent!

Les, I wish you a quick recovery. Older people have to watch out, me included! Probably also in your area, spring has stalled a little, here in zone 5 we had 22 dgrs last night. So you will not miss much. Who is caring for your fish now?

I have to teach my daughters, water changes most criticle.

I went to the orthopedic surgeon this morning. The er did MRI in the wrong place. I have a completely torn ligament that attaches the muscl e in my thigh to my knee cap, so I can support my lower leg movement..

I am in the hospital and surgery is scheduled for Thursday, after my IR and PT are adjusted. Then a cast for four weeks. Should be back to
normal by September, just in time for another dormant season. What a bummer.
    GO DRIP IRRIGATION!

Been there. Have the scars to prove it. Took me about a year to get back to doing what I could do before the surgery. Take all the PT they will give you and work hard. It will pay off in the end.

This is an opportunity to learn how to get things done without exerting yourself. Drip irrigation is a great idea. Getting others to do the physical labor is another one. Getting someone to put down mulch for you would be another. No reason to stop gardening just because you have one leg. : )

Les I am so sorry to hear the updates but my thoughts will be with you on Thursday that your surgery is successful and you have a speedy recovery.

Oh, Les--that is REALLY a bummer! Be careful and live vicariously through your friends here! (My gardens are still so young, I can't compete at picture time!) Good Luck on Thursday!!

Les, sorry for that turn, but you will recover! It could have been much worse. You will have time this spring to pay for some simplifications to your landscape, and gardening can continue for you. As Steve writes, physical therapy is very good. I have squashed disks and had PT for 3 weeks in 1986, and it helped a lot then, continue to dig my garden.
    Hang in there!

    Ach! That hurts, Les!!!
Not personally, but my brother had his two shoulder muscles reattached to the bone after he tore them off following Hurricane Katrina. He did make a full recovery though. They know how to do these things really well.

Just take it easy, and get the camera manual out so you'll know how to take good pics. And remember when you have that Hostapedia sitting on your knees, don't drop it on your good foot.

Best wishes for an early recovery.
