Impressed...

I ordered 5 Hoyas from eBay seller Plumerindr and received them in late May. I was hesitant to order from that far away (Thailand) and wasn't sure what to expect, but I was very impressed with the packing, the size of the plants and the root system. Four of the five arrived in perfect condition - one, elliptica, looked rough. I potted them all up and waited... you know how it is... sometimes, it takes a week or so to see the stress from shipping. I did lose elliptica - well, I'm pretty sure I did. All the leaves dropped quickly, but I kept the stem and roots and have the pot in my rooting aquarium, so who knows? If the roots were ok, maybe it'll come back... Another one, benguetuensis, started to dehydrate a bit, but popped right back in the rooting aqruarium. All but benguetuensis have new growth popping, so thought I'd share some photos. Here's benguetuensis, all fat and happy again...

H. padangensis - if you look close, you can see the white speckles on the leaves...

H. sigillatis - it's HUGE! In the right side of the pot, that small piece coming out is what I got from another vendor for $15, and the rest is from Plumerindr for $10!

And finally, waymaniae Malaysia - the undersides of the leaves are a dark burgandy...

Now that I feel more confident about this seller, I ordered 5 more! Shipping is pricey ($34), but the size and initial price makes it reasonable IMO.

Hi Denise, Congrats on your new hoyas...VERY pretty! Love Sigillatis. Glad you had a good experience with them...they certainly have a LOT of hoyas to choose from, some not very common. Best of luck with Elliptica, keep fingers crossed it will recover. Please post pictures when you get your others...we'd love to see them.

    Thanks for the feedback!

    LOL at "I ordered 5 more"!! :)

Nice looking plants ,,, I especially like the gnarly, two tone leaves on the last one.

Denise I ordered a while back and was very impressed as well, great to deal with and a fantastic selection of Hoyas.
My Hoya elliptica came from another source but it virtually came back from the dead so don't give up on yours. My plant had about three inches of stem and one very yellow leaf but you would never know that now, all greened up and growing albeit a very small plant.

    Denise,
How were they packaged? They look really good!
Elliptica can be a little tempermental- at times - definitely don't give up on it yet. May want to check the roots though in case you just need to chop them off and reroot it. I've had several leafless sticks sprout roots and new growth!

Kelly, the roots had moss on them and looked like they'd been rooted in those little plug pots, so they were in a long, rectangular shape. The roots were wrapped in newspaper that was still slightly moist (amazing, considering how long they'd been in the mail) and they came out of the package looking about the same as those that take 2 days to get here. I figured that it would take them a little longer to adjust and start growing, but I'm amazed to find new growth only a month later. And as Mike said, the owner (man or woman? who can tell via e-mail? I can't...) is very pleasant to deal with. An all around great experience!

I tried to buy some Hoyas from FatPlants2000 on eBay because I've heard great things, but OMG, the bidding got way out of my range! My hubby has been unemployed for a year now, so I have to stretch my plant dollar as far as it will go!

No plastic, just moist paper? Have to admit that's my favorite way of shipping- moist paper- it doesn't smother them! How long did shipping take? At $34, I'm guessing it was EMS - maybe a week? I'm impressed, too! Thanks for sharing pictures!

Hey Denise, I am glad you took the plunge and bought from him. His plants are great and he will work with you if something is dead or near dead when you receive.
