Can you dig it up and take it back to the nursery ? Most places have some kind of a guarantee and should replace it... sally

Most Mangoes used to be grafted on to Turpentine Mango seedlings, if I remember correctly. But, I think now that any strong Mango seedling will do. You select the most upright branch/sucker, remove the others, and graft a good variety on it.

I recently tried this for the first time, grafting Lancetilla onto the roostock of a small tree killed below the graft this winter. I don't know if it worked yet.

If you Google "How to graft a Mango" you should find directions. It is pretty simple, but I did have a little trouble getting the cut edges of the scion to fit perfectly into the cleft.

Thanks Sally and Lisa. I was afraid that it was grafted to a turpentine. Ofcourse that was what I remember eating when I was young. The problem taking it back is I got it at a master gardeners sale. Oh well, it will make a nice tree if nothing else.

I'd dig it up and plant a known, high quality mango variety. It will be worth 100 times what you pay for it when you're harvesting those mangos.

Hi - I have 2 HADEN mango here in St Pete, one is gigantic, was planted in 1975, it has been frozen to the ground several times but keeps coming back... the mango is huge and very sweet and not stringy like other varieties, I always recommend a Hayden if you can get it.... sally

Can you graft a mango seedlings scion to an adult grafted mango tree?

I've seen a lot of grafting videos on yt but none with a seedlings scion. Thanks a bunch anyway

Aka you can graft from one tree to the next whether it's from a small tree or a large tree but I have found the scion has to have hardened off.it shouldn't be green.
