Thanks JP and Glo. THis is my little girl who is growing really fast on all the nectar. She has also just started to use the feeder in addition to the flowers. I just came in from collecting seed and she was right next to me (about 18 inchs at the most) sipping nectar from the cuphea while I collected salvia seed. Every once in a while she would chirp at me and then go on about her business of filling her little belly.

No I didn't really give her a name. I just call her lil' bit since she was so small when she first 'took up residence'. In the past week she looks like she has doubled her size and weight. She is a cutie and turns her head when I talk to her to make me think she is actually listening.

She like all hummers is really hard to capture when she is at the flowers especially with my wooden fence in the back.

Penny, you have gotton some great shots of hummers in action. The Lady in Red Salvia is just beautiful.

Thank you Oubliette, I am lucky in that I can usually get withing a few feet of her without alarming her. Yesterday evening I was able to walk straight over to within three feet of where she was perching on the clothline. Usually she comes over to where I am but I thought I would give it a try and she never budged. when she is at the flowers, it doesn't phaze her for me to be in there collecting seed as long as I leave her flowers alone.
