Kris I can only tell you from my experience other bird feeders have not detered the hummingbirds visiting my yard.

Why the hummingbirds use one feeder and ignore another one I don't have a clue. It happens to me.

Hummingbirds have to learn to use a feeder. If there are not others in your area who use feeders they likely won't know to use them--although they are curious and if they are in the area sooner or later they will find it. If you put your feeder next to flowers that hummingbirds frequent you are more likely to get some that use it.

I had mine up for a long time and finally when I put it next to flowers that they were feeding on they found it.

Something makes me think that the hummers need a visual area to feel confident if they are new ones. Although they adapt quickly regardless, if they have options they choose the best route with least risk when given it. They become still when they hear crows overhead and wait until it's all clear. So if they hear crows and can't see them well, they stay put or go elsewhere. I noticed tis by observation with feeders under my pergola.
