ALl I know in my yard here in Miami Florida is that fire spike brings them like crazy!

I have not read that synthetic fertilizers affect plant nectar. They are more an issue of hurting soil organisms and runoff. To be extra careful, don't apply fertilizers directly to the flowers. And of course don't use herbicides and pesticides, especially systemic ones.

Your list includes few flowers that are hummingbird favorites, I think. Cardinal Vine, Scarlet salvia (both annuals) would do well in your area, coral honeysuckel (Gee, I can't spell!), do well, firecracker sage, bee balm, other honeysuckels [sic] and anything red and tubular. There have often been lists of hummingbirds published here.

Teresa, the flowers in my yard most loved by hummers so far have been zinnas and pentas. They ignored the hollyhock that I had for awhile. Oh, they also seemed to love the butterfly ginger. I used chemical fertilizer, and the birds didn't seem to be affected.
