Yea!! I Finally Have One!!!

Just one, but that's OK! My DH and I were out on the breezeway, and here came my first of the season...a male of course. He took a quick sip and off he flew. The first sighting is always so exciting! Tonight, I can rest in peace...finally!!!! The season has begun!! Rob, you beat me to it...are you reading this???

Umm ... seems like I read on the forum yesterday that someone predicted that you would see your first hummer today? I can't remember who posted that :-)

Congratulations, I hope you and your family enjoy a great hummer season.

It really doesn't matter who sees one first or last as long as we all get to enjoy them through the summer. Keep us posted on your hummers.

Way to go Donna, really happy for you. Yes that first arrival is always exciting. I will have to wait another 5wks Im afraid.

Thanks! Rob, since your prediction was right on the money, I'm going to depend on you for the entire hummer season! Hope my one little fella will bring some friends around in the next few days. Also, here's hoping everyone will have a great hummer season.

Umm...Donna, a wild guess on my part got lucky. Ok?

I'm off work on Fridays and have had more hummers at my feeders today than any one day last summer. I hope this means we will have a banner year for hummers. I've mostly RT and Black Chinned. Do you get Black Chinned hummers at your place?

I have just the RTs, but years ago in our previous home, I had a rufous during the winter. The Hummer group from ALA. came and banded it. It was so interesting to watch them weigh, measure, etc. the tiny hummer. He stayed around until mid March. That's the only time I've ever had a hummer in winter, but I always keep one feeder up just in case.

Congrats Donna-
I have feeders up and am anxiously awaiting my first male-according to the hummer migration map the first sighting here in Sussex county De in 2008 was March 27.
I will let you all know when my first boy arrives-at this point I only have two feeders up, but when my resident population gets here I will have seven up around the yard for the duration of the season.

Thanks Vicki...my male arrived a few days earlier this year, so keep an eye out as you might spot one before the 27th. Let us know when you have your first visitor!

Hey thanks Donna for the good advice-
as I have viewed the hummingbird migration map I am noticing that it looks like they are a few days ahead of time everywhere this year.
I look at my feeder every time I pass that window!
There are not many things flowering here yet and it is still pretty cold at night-so my boys will probably need a little help when they get here-which I will gladly give!
