That is odd, I'm in Austin too...I have about the same amount I had prior to the cold snap but I do think at least some are new/different. Prior to that freeze day there were more black chin than ruby and now it's definately the other way around. Maybe you had travelers earlier who have moved on and your normal crew haven't arrived yet?

Today the DH was mowing and was "attacked" by our resident hummer. Maybe the hummers are nesting?

still haven't seen a single one since the cold snap.... very strange. i don't have a huge amount of flowers blooming yet, but 2 feeders up (and some fake red flowers to attract their attention). even if they were nesting, wouldn't they still be feeding just as much? that's funny your DH got attacked! maybe it thought the lawnmower was a giant hummingbird..... ;)

I have been seeing mine for a bit now. I also had a ruby pass through. It was sometime between end of march and before that easter snow that I hadn't see one, but he showed up on that snowy day and sat for an hour on my greggii!
I've seen them since then. I don't know what is up if they haven't shown up yet where you are.
