They seem to be all around me too. But I think in reality, those are probably the scouts heading right for Canada!

They are all around Stan too. hang in there Glo! I know all too well how frustrating it is when they are all around you except in your yard.

I found some blooming salvia yesterday...not the GOOD stuff, but it's red and blooming! So I bought a four pack and added it to the impatiens, geraniums and petunias that I've found...going to Lowes and Home Depot and Walmart today to see if they've gotten anything new in...now if it'd just get a bit warmer so that my wintersown stuff would take a big leap, I'm ready for the babies!!! I have faith that they'll find me within the week! Don't have a clue what I'll do with all this stuff once it's ready to go out in the yard tho!!! I'm sure I'll figure it out!!! Hope everyone has some hummies soon too!!!

To someone living in southwestern Pennsylvania, it's interesting, but frustrating to watch how they continue to move north, yet are missing us! I can't really say they're "all around me," just avoiding us completely as they advance further north along the coast and interior. The interesting part is that it looks like some are moving up the east coast, staying just east of the Appalachians, and the rest are coming up the Mississippi and Ohio valleys. So, while there are birds in northern Illinois (north of us!) and southeastern NY state (also north), there still aren't any reports within 300 miles of us. Look at the mountainous state of West Virginia, just south of us--NUTHIN!

I feel your pain, Glo! I can't wait for them to come, and it just seems like they're passing us by in the west and the east. I just bought some small snapdragons at Home Depot and put them in window boxes, plus I've had my feeder up for about a week now. Am I impatient, or what!?

I know that hummers are supposed to like some varieties of Phlox, like paniculata, and maybe some of the native woodland varieties. Has anyone ever seen them at low-growing subulata? I saw some in full-bloom at Home Depot, and wondered if it would be worth running back and buying a couple plants.

Perhaps they like the seashore as much as we do!! LOL - It looks as if they are straying to the far east coast! Congrats to all those who have them at this point - enjoy!! Can't wait for mine to show up again!

lol! They didn't get here til the 9th or the 11th last year, so I'm hoping for really soon! I've gotten flowers already blooming from HD, Lowes and Walmart (my poor hubby just shakes his head and grins at me, cuz he knows all the pots I've got coming up here) but this strange weather isn't helping much either. I had ice on my solar birdbath this morning... fortunately, all my flowers seem to have come thru ok except for the President Canna's and they aren't my favorite anyway. So...hopefully we'll all have them soon too! I'll cross my fingers and wish on tonights star for us!!!
