I'm impatiently waiting! I've had my feeder out since Saturday. I keep peeking out the window, although I haven't seen one this early yet. Last year, May was my first. I can dream, can't I?

I thought I saw one briefly as it zipped by on Sunday. Then I found agastache, gartenmeister fuschia and Jacob Cline monarda at a nursery down near Philly. So I knew it must be time. Got the feeder out yesterday. Life is good.

Hello harryshoe......I'm close by to Philly and I did purchase a fuchsia (snowfire) over the weekend and put that out in the front yard so maybe that will get some little hummers attention and then he will notice my new feeder. In the past I've never had luck with hummers athough I've kept the ants happy. I see them occassionally but I think its always late August/early September. I want one to live here with me!!! Is that too much to ask? LOL

By the way your garden pictures on your page are really wonderful! I wish I had that kind of talent :)

I've had a feeder for a few years and got nowhere. After finding this Forum, I learned about better feeders and plants that Hummingbirds can't resist. Agastache and salvia guarantica (sp?) black and blue were the best attractants. Monarda and fuschia were good too. I think that the gartenmeister fuschia is the type they want. Of these four, only monarda is readily available. So, whenever I travel, I stop at every nursery to search out hard-to-get plants.

Last summer our hummer was always nearby. A daily show that I am anticipating with great joy.

I just have plain old red ivy geraniums. They come to it. Also have seen them around tomatoes!

First hummer here last year was Mothers Day. Could they really be this much earlier? Nothing is blooming yet at all. Not even spring bulbs. Oh, wait. Forsysthia is out. Sandy

Oh Jenny I just looked at your home page with all those wonderful Pics. Am so impressed with your balcony garden and love that pic of the ruby throat. They must feel some sort of safety from predators up that high??

Yeah - I'm thinking that my first one was lucky enough to stumble upon a nice secluded oasis where she could hog all the food without competition (including swarms of nice juicy gnats and lots of spiders and spider webs). At least until a couple more found it too! LOL

My daffodils and bleading hearts are blooming and my overwintered fuchsias are blooming and outside today.
My tulips are on the verge of blooming but my Rhododendron and azalea haven't even started to bloom yet. I am watering everything like crazy as i know the dry conditions are holding things back.
