Shade plants

I've seeen lots of posting for plants hummers like, but what plants can be planted in the shade? Our backyard is in the shade most of the day. I really am NOT a big fan of hostas, so some other suggestions would be great

Bleeding Hearts - perennial - flowers in early spring

Native Columbine (Aquilegia canadensis) - perennial - flowers in early spring, moist well drained soil

Azaleas and rhododendrons - shrubs - flowers in spring

Cardinal Flower (Lobelia Cardinalis)- perennial - flowers mid to late summer,moist soil

Great Blue Lobelia (Lobelia siphilitica) - perennial - flowers mid to late summer, moist soil

bedding impatiens - annual - flowers all season great in baskets

Monarda 'Jacob's Cline' - perennial -lt or filtered shade - mid summer, moist soil

Fuschia 'gartenmeister bonstedt' tender perennial can be overwintered inside or take cuttings does well in hanging baskets or pots will flower all summer loves moisture

Indian Pink (Spigelia marilandica) - perennial - blooms in May

Abutilon - tender perennial can be overwintered inside

A lot of these plants can be found at Field's up on the hill on Clifty Drive.

Thanks Penny for the great information! We just moved to Madison, so we will definitely have to check Field's out! When we moved I felt like I left so many wonderful plants behind!

Field's isn't much to look at from the outside as it is also a produce market but when I came down to visit my daughter who lives off of Rabbit Lane I wanted a few salvias for her garden which I didn't bring with me. I checked out Lowe's, Wal Mart and a couple of local garden centers and found Field's to be the best on selection for hummingbird plants. They may not have a full stock yet. I was there last year in May. They are right by the Butternut bread store 202 Clifty Dr.

Ok I know where that is now. I will check it out. What a small world. It was nice to get a reply from someone who knows the area. Not sure where Rabbit Lane is, we live in a subdivision off of Telegraph Hill Road.

Rabbit Lane is off Lanier Drive which is I think 2 lights past the High school off Clifty. There is an Arby's at that light of Lanier and Clifty. Rabbit Lane is about half a mile down Lanier. So she is on the other end of town from you.
