If you have room, I would suggest a coral honeysuckle which is our native honeysuckle and not invasive like the Halls or Japanese Honeysuckle. Maybe some Native columbine and some coral bells for early blooms. Monarda 'Jacob's Cline' for mid summer blooms and Crocosmia Lucifer for a little later in the summer. Cuphea Ignea 'David Verity' is an all season bloomer as is Fuchsia Gartenmeister Bonstedt and they can be grown in pots or hanging baskets.

I grow a red lobelia (sorry don't know variety) and it seems to be the humming birds favorite. It also blooms very late after many other flowers have finished blooming. It will reseed itself easily and I believe it also comes back from the roots each year in my zone.

Yes Lobelia Cardinalis is another excellent selection especially during late summer during migration

One of my favorite Garden Centers where I live is Echters'
at www.echters.com . They station flowers with signs, of course for sun or shade, but also for the ones that attract certain birds (Hummingbirds, for example) and butterflies, etc. If your favorite garden center does this, it is an easy shopping experience.

The Fuchsia 'Thalia' is the one my hummers devour!
