I used to have a couple Caryopteris, and although I did occasionally see hummingbirds in my garden, I never saw them at the Caryopteris. They do not have a reputation as a hummingbird flower.

Maybe someone else has had a different experience.

I have a caryopteris, "Worcester Gold", and never spotted the hummer or any butterflies on it. However, the bumblebees adore it, so it's a keeper ;)
