Hummers... birth to flight!

I got a link in the mail today to a website that has photos of a female hummingbird and her nest. The pictures span 24 days and capture from birth to flight of the babies. It's something that you have to see.... it's amazing! There are 5 pages, so make sure you click the 'next page' link at the bottom.

The photography is wonderful.

Ditto to the previous folks! It's amazing how tiny the babies are. Also, the shape of the eggs is unusually oblong compared to your average chicken egg. They look more like reptile eggs.

It is my understanding that the females perform all the nest care duties. That seems like a huge drain on her energy, but she somehow manages it. What a wondrous thing, and thanks so much for linking us to the pictures!
