The little male who sat on my feeder for hours a few weeks ago during cold, wet & windy weather has decided he trusts me. In fact, he trusts me far more than any of the females who visit me, which perplexes me because in my experience, the females have always been more tolerant of my presence and movement than the males have been in the past. But this little guy is hardly phased by anything I do! He won't leave my feeder until he's ready.

I love him.

My question is this: yesterday, I brought my feeders in for cleaning, and one of them had a web-like substance in the base, and I could see a bug in it but assumed it was dead. Wrong. It was alive and it could fly. I quickly rinsed it down the drain and turned on the garbage disposal. What could this nasty thing have been? I've never seen this before on any of my feeders.
