Really nice looking division with a lot of eyes there. I'm partial to gold hosta myself. I have a good bit of gold hosta, but mine are all young, having arrived here only last year.

Just as a starter, here is my Corn Muffins. I tend to take my photos from higher up and do not show the petioles. It is a shot taken 5/6/13.

If it stays a solid yellow it looks like Squash Casserole. Would your friend know they name if they heard it?

Hmmm...where did you buy it? That will tell us if it's a common hosta or if it could be a collector's plant from a specialty nursery.

Also, wait a few more weeks and take more photos of it, particularly when it's in bloom. If the foliage remains bright gold and the petioles are red, perhaps it's Designer Genes.

i think we need to see the leaves fully unfurled ... for both shape and color ...

check back in a month or so ... and i recommend a pic w/o sun shining on the leaves ... for best color translation ...

also.. where did you get it.. and did they carry unique enough hosta.. to actually carry so of the suggestions above???/ ... i would not expect such at bigboxstore.. and first though of august moon ...

Sorry Don and Ken for any confusion. But so to be precise, the person I got it from was more of an associate than a friend and it was a purchase. Hosta Society had a Hosta Walk a few years back and his house was on the list to tour and buy hosta. That is how I met him. On a revisit there last weekend I saw and purchased the hosta. I'll post more pic's once hosta has all leafed out and with no sunshine. Thanks!!

No idea what it is Gary but I feel your pain. I swear I will never buy another hosta that is not identified - it really irritates me not to be able to call them by name on my walkabouts! (NOID 1, NOID 2, ...) I read in a blog - the writer calls them "GOKS" - God only knows.

My first thoughts are to agree with Chris that it may be Squash Casserole. SC has a more sprawling habit (more out than up). In a month or so you should know.

Just went out to take a look at my Squash Casserole which is at about the same stage of growth that yours is. I'm pretty sure that is the correct ID. Same leaf tip, same ruffles and the right vein pair count. This Hosta will get about 15 inches high and may be as much a five feet in diameter. So give it some room.

Thanks everyone for your comments I'll post more pic's as hosta completely unfurls. Squash Casserole is a possibility since we bought know a person that deals with that hosta. My thoughts were Daybreak or Highnoon but since none of you picked those and have lots more experience then me, maybe not. But I'm confident that with time together we'll figure it out. Gary
