June - you don't have to be in a "flight zone" to attract them. Those who actually live in the path report dozens and dozens at their feeders during migration, with some residents the rest of the season. However, if you plant some of the plants suggested here and elsewhere (eg., bee balm, salvia, native honeysuckles, etc) or even hang some baskets of fuchsias and plant some of the bean vines (scarlet runner, hyacinth bean), and hang a feeder and/or something red, there's a very good chance that they will come to investigate what you have and will start hanging out - returning year after year.

June - Good luck - Jenny always has good advice...!And I'm counting on having some returnees from the last few years - they do seem to increase each year. And if it makes you feel any better I am sure I am not in any flight path...But I do get some in August thru Oct. Don't give up hope! And all the flowers mentioned or any of them plus a feeder will surely bring you some. This is one case where patience and persistence pays off.... Carol

June, I also live in MA and have a pair of hummers, I have two feeders one in the front and one in the back and they fly bac and forth to each feeder. I also have a fuchsia hanging on my front porch which they also feed from. I have bee bam, honeysuckle and other plants that they like. It only takes a few minutes for them to discover the feeder so just keep watching. I also read that if you see one multiply that by six and that is how many you have, not sure if that is true or not.
