Patrick sounds like you had a great time in your garden with the hummingbirds on the 4th. They sure are a lot of fun and entertainment.

Lately the hummingbirds around here have been out doing themselves with the antics. I can't seem to walk outside with out catching them playing in my saffrass tree. I have phlox, scarlet runner beans, lady in red salva and several greggii salvas planted around that tree along with three different cupheas. I also have a feeder hanging from a limb. This feeder is used less than any of my three that I have out.

I must put Crocosmia lucifer on my list of to get plants. I did do a Google serch and found it to be out of stock on several online nurseries.

Your crocosmia is a bit ahead of mine. One of my patches has at least 50 stalks ready to bust out - some I gave to my neighbor are already in flower. Now that June is over the hummers in the yard are getting braver, giving me that "in your face get out of here" attention which is lacking earlier in the season.

Mimi - if you ask me at the end of the season, I could box up some corms and send them to you. For me the plant is a real spreader which every year needs to be shown its limits. It is easy to have too much of it, especially because it only blooms for 3 weeks or so. I wouldn't be without it though.
