After squirrels, these have been the biggest pests this summer. They have learned how to pull off the bee guards in order to get a drink.

Those house finches are all over the place earlier this spring they were using the hummingbird feedrs here too. Sarah

Birds I can handle but that previous post of the tarantula hawk wasp still gives me the heebie jeebies!!!

ps...I love telling that story about you getting up into that THW's face and snapping photos of it to the guys at work. I've even gone so far as to get online and show them your posting about it! Everyone from around here that knows all about those critters has cringed!!! :o)

I have house finches that use my feeders too and when they bring the "new brood" to teach them how to eat out of the feeders, it is a sight to see. I grow purslane for them but I never let it bloom because I hate the stuff getting everywhere. They love it and don't bother the feeders as much. They are by far one of the most interesting "bird families" to watch....sorta like children on a road trip!! They will sit at the bird feeder and squawk and wait for the parents to feed them...they are way cool!!!

LOL! I found it very strange to see a goldfinch at my HB feeder last week. Of course, I didn't have the camera.
