Ken, it's not unusaual for hummers to look into your windows. Some are very curious. I have a female that will fly up to my sliding glass door when I'm there and look directly into my face. I've nicknamed her "Nosey." My windows and sliding glass door are kept very clean and clear so I can see them.

They get used to seeing your activity. Mine will ignore me on my balcony if I stand still.

Yes, I have a lot of "nosey" hummers too and the fact is they do get used to you over time. Sometimes when Im outside im my chair they will right up in front of me like a challenge and then today I was out looking at my flowers walking slowly and hummer comes up to the plant right beside me I didnt move much and it continued to go all over the plant then another hummer runs him off.

I have a 6ft slider in my kitchen and I leave the curtain open all day. So earlier in this summer when I would be moving around in the kitchen I would see the hummers flare off and then come back later, but lately I notice they seem to be getting more used to me and hardly even flutter when they see me move now and yes Im also seeing them do the nosey thing at the slider also. Last night while I was sitting out front I was watching a male doing a little sig sag with his beak up in the air catching insects or knats. I usually only remember seeing them do that in early morning. Its kinda cute watching them do that.

I love it when they buzz down and check you out!! It's like they are trying to figure out exactly what type of flower you might be... "Our" birds have gotten to the point that I and 3 dogs can sit on the deck and, as long as we are not totally bouncing around, they tolerate us and let us hang out with them. :)

Whenever you have quite a few or just a few in your yard it seems they are much more interested in protecting their food source than a little movement you might do. In fact during these moments Ive had them practically crash into me. Lately since Ive added the crocosmia lucifer to my garden they like to perch on its stems which are way thicker than salvias and chirping like crazy letting the others know this land is mine. What fun it is.

Eigdeh- I for one never tire of it. We have planters with Hummer flowers and feeders on our deck; whenever we spot a visitor while we're eating dinner, my hubby, two boys and I hush so we can watch. It never grows old.

Just now I was watching the yard when I noticed something odd in one of my trees. It was a chickadee being chased around by a hummingbird. I had four chickadees visiting the seed and suet feeders and the hummer started chasing them all around the yard, in and out of trees, etc. It was very amusing to watch.
