I thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog and your garden is beautifull, but being geographically challenged I had to get out my rand mcnally cd and my globe before I had it straight in my mind where you are located. I suppose Im a little puzzled too that the hummers would cross the water to get to your island. How far exactly is your island from the mainland, maps are misleading. But it is rather exciting to hear from you in our little hummer forum.

Steve thank you for visiting my blog. The nearest large land mass is South America an hours'plane ride. Our nearest island is St. Vincent. Our hummers are year round residents. They probably came with strong air currents during storms. All the islands in the Caribbean have humming birds some have many species. Trinidad and Tobago is known as the land of the humming birds.

Thanks for the info. I had no idea the Caribbean islands were populated by hummingbirds.
