Sorry to hear about your broken stem. I've rooted imperialis before, and it rooted rather quickly in my soil mix (in a ziplock bag for extra humidity).

Hi Denise, I root mine in soil too, imperialis roots fast for me too. Did you see the meliflua photo I traded with you? it's huge but no flowers yet. Soon I think.

Yep - mine rooted in soil with a baggie round it to increase humidity (and on a heat mat, because it isn't always that warm here). It rooted fairly fast for me, but then I found, when I potted it up, it lost its roots. However, I put the baggie round it again and it was rooted again in a week or so. Mine was broken too, not sure for how long, so yours should be OK.

I got Imperialis in a trade and it rooted very fast just in soil. I didn't put it on a heating pad or in a baggie just misted in the mornings. It has put on lots of new growth (compared to some of my others), it is becoming one of my favorites. I am not sure on the color of my imperialis blooms. The person I got it from, hadn't bloomed for them yet.
