They are supposed to like moving water.

Occassionally when I'm watering with the hose and go stock still while lost in thought, a hummer will fly into the level stream of water and hover for a few seconds. I've had that happen a good half dozen times in the past 2 years.

It rained here this morning so naturally the plant foliage is wet with rain water. I looked out and there are a few joyfully bathing on the wet
plant foliage.

The hummies out here in hot south Texas love sprinklers and birdbaths and any big leaf that holds water. Our temperaturs are usually in the high 90's to 100 and I occasionally hang my water over a tree and set the nozzle to a gentle spray. They will perch on the branches and fluff their feathers, preening themselves as the water spray reaches them. I have also seen them flying up to the large leaves of my chalice vine or the banana trees and rubbing themselves on the morning dew as the fly by them.
