Mary Ann do you plan to pot some hosta?

Thank you, Mary Ann! That could have contributed to a few of them, but most of them were new
last summer--the barrel plantings. I used mostly pine fines with some commercial garden
soil, without fertilizers. They were pretty compacted on the tops but down in, they really
seemed to be a very nice consistency!

Funny thing is, that one of my oldest barrel plantings, is so full of Regal Splendor that I
finally had to divide some of it out this year, due to "fairy ring" and yet, it was
filled with regular old clay, from our yard, back about 15 years ago! They did fine! Some of
them were curled from the freezing but I really didn't lose any of them!

I haven't read the article yet, but I will print it out and sit back and read it through!

Again, thank you for the article--I'm sure I've much, much more to learn through this fiasco!! :o)
