Wrinkling is normally a sign of underwatering. Do you have good drainage in your soil? Have you looked at your roots? Stick a pencil down there to see how dry it actually is......go take a look at imageshack or photobucket, or do a search, you should be able to come up with the instructions on how to post photos in here.

Do you have a digital camera? If so you can use photobucket, that's what I use. If you do a search on Garden Web you can find how to use photo bucket, someone has put the directions on here.

Also my hoya compacta looks like I am not watering it enough, b/c there is a piece of a leaf that is always dryed up and comes off when I water. I watered last Friday 11/2 and again last night 11/7, so not sure why it had dried that quick but maybe it's just an adjusting period b/c I got it from ebay as a cutting at the beginning of October.

H. compacta likes to stay more on the moist side in comparison to other hoyas. If the leaves are wrinkled and it looks like the moisture has been sucked out of them, I'd water it!

I have been watering it but I guess not frequently enought. I will keep a closer eye on it. Compacta's weather or not they are verigated, do they prefer the same or similar watering schedules? I didn't know if one seemed to need more watering than the other.

Question for you Gabi
Is it ok to repot a hoya if it is in a growing stage? What I mean is new leaves coming out? I was wanting to repot what I think is a Carnosa (solid green) from an 8" pot (how I bought it) to a 6".

As far as I know, variegation doesn't matter in terms of watering schedules. As for repotting, I basically repot whenever I feel like it. I've never had any bad consequences. I've even repotted one hoya multiple times over the period of a few months...it's doing great now. New leaf growth wouldn't stop just from repotting. The only time I'm hesitant to repot is if the plant has been stressed (like after a long trip) - I'll usually give it a transition period before repotting.

May I pls. ask why pot it bigger, esp from 6-8" that's a very big pot for a Hoya, they tend to like being potted on the smaller side. I wouldn't go bigger unless all its roots are coming out the bottom & then if so, then just one size (if possible) larger?

You'll see that downsizing it will help with growth, and hopefully you'll get to see blooms on it soon!

About the size - Shanna's post sounds to me like she is potting from an 8" pot to a 6" pot, so she's not going bigger. But when roots start to pop out of a 6" pot, I always go straight to an 8" pot - I don't think that's a big jump at all. I would also think it's pretty hard to find a 7" pot.

I'm new to the world of Hoyas and would like to know if anyone will give me an all around hora soil mix? Right now I am using Coco Coir with some orchid mix. I see so many recipes for Hoya mixes it gets confusing to a new person like me.
