Hi,
I just joined this site in hopes of getting some fast help! I'm a NYC girl visiting my friend's lake house in Maine and I just bought 5 hydrangeas (the tag says they're Nikko Blues) to plant around his property as a nice gift... or so I thought, because I just did a zip code search and the house is in zone 4b! (and why does the large local nursery even sell them?)

I don't have a soil kit but I think it's acidic? It appears VERY sandy in spots and it did NOT fizz when I did the vinegar test (there's no baking powder at the house and we're 20 minutes from civilization!)

Question is -- even though I adore hydrangea more than anything -- is it hopeless to think they'll survive this soil and/or this climate??? Thank you, thank you for any advice!!!

Got the Nikko blues. (attached photos, in case/in hopes maybe they're NOT nikkos...
