Those birds look almost FRANTIC! How many hummers did you have around your home before?

We had a tornado pass through once and after the storm many more birds came here than before.

Looks like you have a bird sanctuary after Ike. Good for you!

We had maybe 4-6 before the storm, but afterwards they came in droves. Almost like they were frantic. Best I could tell there weren't really any other food sources...so they wanted to tank up and head down south. They stayed for about 4-5 days...not I have about 4 left for now.

Plus a cold front moved in right after the storm so that probably pushed some down.

It was the darndest thing!!

Do you still have lots of hummers in Houston? The hummers are making their way down here to the Coastal Bend, Rockport, and are feedeing like crazy. Last night I had about two dozen out back and another two dozen out front. I think that the first big cold front we get will push them on to Mexico. In the meantime, I'm going through about 1 1/2 gallons of solution a day. They are hungry little birds!
