My feeders are FINALLY running dry...

before the 3 days are up and I have to change the nectar. Means I have more hummers, of course, and I can attest. Some mighty battles going on. I am hoping there will be plenty of vagrants who will decide they're not up to the gulf flight and are willing to just stay here for the winter... Anyone else using up a bunch of sugar?

Yes, For the first time since I have been hosting hummers (about 15 Years) I have one feeder that is having to be filled every day. This has never happened before and to think that I thought moving to a new house was going to hurt my chances of getting hummers the first year. I use only perky pet 8 ounce feeders and have 5 up. The ones on the north side of the house are taking a beating.

They are really starting to come in here to south Texas. I currently have 11 feeders out that I am filling every other day.

Yes - it's a very "satisfying" feeling to actually have them suck the feeders dry instead of pouring it out :-)

I've gone through 50 lbs. of sugar so far this summer, right now anywhere from 1/2 gal. to 3/4 gal. of nectar a day (yeah, I know - nothing compared to you southerners) - and I'm LOVING every minute of it!!!
