There is a long thread on the Butterfly Forum that you can read with my name - MissSherry - in the title that tells my post Katrina situation.
I just recently got my electricity and water back, I've had phone service for a couple of days. I'm 35 miles inland, and still got massive damage to my woods - there's hardly a big tree still standing. My house is okay - I'm sure glad I had our builders build it strong and with a steel roof!
I've got some hummers coming to my feeders, still, but their numbers are way down. The general bird population is way down in numbers, too, but the butterflies have done pretty well - huh?

Welcome back Miss Sherry!!! It's so good to see you posting on the hummer and butterfly forum! That's great that you have electricity and water and phone service and that your house is okay! Sorry to hear about your trees though. You might be getting some more hummers soon. I haven't seen any since yesterday morning and then only one. Saturday there were two. Last night I read on the local hawk watch that yesterday they had thirteen hummingbirds and and one hundred and seventy monarch butterlies pass thru on sunday alone so they might be headed your way! MissSherry....I'll check out that thread.

Must be getting everybody's migrators down here! Never seen so many hummers at my front 2 feeders. They really love the Crepe Myrtle trees (lots of places to sit?). Brought 5 of my 6 feeders in to clean this evening just before dark - had 1 stubborn female squeakin' at me at close range(she should've been in bed!).

Tomorrow morning I might just set up my camcorder for when I put out the fresh eats!
