Yes, you can freeze daffodil pollen for later use, and it does make sense because the pollen-donor-daffodil may offer the pollen before the pollen-receiver-daffodil is ready to receive it. Ideally, the pollen should be taken directly to the seed parent, but if that is not convenient or feasible, you can freeze the pollen for later use. If that is not convenient, you can even store the pollen in an open container in the house for several weeks. You might even be collecting daffodil pollen at one location and using it at a different location a considerable distance away.

I don't grow daffodils myself, but I read a lot.

I thought it might make sense but I wanted to be sure. You see, I got to thinking that the father daffodil would not be ready and waiting at the the right time - that he would be some weeks from flowering.

It sounds as though I don't need to freeze the pollen if it's only a matter of a few weeks until the female flower is ready. Is that right? I assumed that pollen might be like... er... I thought it might survive for only a few days.

I will also try storing pollen from later flowering single daffodils to cross with some miniatures the following Spring.
