I keep hearing about these unusual guests at the feeders, but haven't caught one on mine yet. I'm not sure the Hummers would even allow it!

Ha, that is a funny shot Amy :)

Our red belly just started coming around to our seed feeders recently and I've not seen him try the HB feeders yet. But the downey WP does, and several others (House Finches especially) not only perch on it but apparently drink from it too.

I've got woodpeckers around, but they seem a lot more interested in the sunflower seed feeder. I wouldn't have thought a woodpecker could get at the hummingbird nectar!

I thought it was only Gila woodpeckers (like this one) that had a 'sweet tooth'. Interesting to hear that other woodpeckers try it, too.

Maybe this is tailing away from your post but I had completely run out of sugar and still have them coming migrators or not , this morning was my usual 15, 4 adult males and this afternoon has tailed off very little, so another bag of sugar it is, anything to keep my babies happy. Since most of you have not read my thread I will throw it in here ,,, for the first time I attempted hand feeding them with great success on sept 4th.
