I have a single migrating female who has been here for 3 days in southwest VA. I was surprised to see her again this morning as I know she is not one of my summer hummers. It's a treat for me to have her here.

My cute, fat RT female is feeding this morning. Alone, I'm hoping a friend will join her today. Temp. is 65 degrees at 9:00 am, high forecast for today 85 degrees.

They aren't done coming, yet. I still have four or five up here in eastern Iowa.

Well hummer #2 showed up. The two hummers were buzzing and chasing each other.I took the feeder down and cleaned and filled it with fresh nectar. I held the feeder in my hand high over my head, near another feeder. Well, they buzzed by several times,and I thought sure one would stop for a sip. I patiently stood still for about 15 minutes, and the female RT came very close to the feeder. I think she knew it was fresh, delicious nectar, but she waited until I hung the feeder up before filling up! I will try again tomorrow.

Last one I saw was Oct. 3, cool front swept them away.

10-10-10, lucky day! I was certain I would see another hummer species today, but I only spotted my same 2 RT females. They fed this morning, and again late this evening. They are not very active during the day, not even chasing each other. I will keep my feeders up thru November, hoping to see some darlings come by to sip. Weather still nice, mid 80's predicted this week.
