I stumbled across a frost calendar on-line once for averages of past years' first and last frosts for different areas in Idaho, and I'll bet if you google it you'll be able to find it. So far all I've found is that toms. and straws. should be planted indoors about 4-6 weeks before the last frost, which I think is late March for my area. Hm...we'll have to wait and see(0: As for a good in door plant? My husband and I just grew two forced bulbs in doors, which was lovely, but they only last for a few days to about a week (for us at least, lol), and need like a floresent light near them if there's not a window. Beware of drafts coming off of the window as well, 'cause if it gets too cold they'll yellow. I've heard great things about african violets being grown in low light indoors, and my grandma kept one alive in a windowless bathroom for years, plus they've got loads of varieties out there to choose from, so all sorts of lovely colors as well. Be careful of mold on their soft furry leaves though, because the stuff seems to really thrive here if you're in a basement or on the first floor. Best of luck to you! God bless!

Welcome to Sandpoint. There are not too many plants that flower well in low light. Waterlight has some good suggestions. There are a lot of indoor plants that have colorful foliage like purple passion vine. One I like is a jewel orchid, which can bloom, but the leaf is a dark burgundy with fine pink stripes on it. I like it even when it doesn't bloom.
