New to it..

Hello all.. Im new to the hydroponic community and have a few questions.. I have done alot of reading and studying and know a lot of what i need to do but still have some loose ends.. I oringinally wanted to grow cannabis but my wife wont let me so now Im going to be growing some veggies for salsa (tomatoes, bell pepper and jalapenos).. Im going to try to use a DWC.. My first question is can i use a drip with a dwc.. If so what kind of dripper do i need.. I have looked all over for the kind that i seen the guy on youtube use and cant find them anywhere, store or online.. And how do i use a dripper.. Is there a cheap (like really cheap cuz im past my budget already)dripper set up i can get somewhere..

I think you may be looking for drippers like the link below.
then you would just need the tubing and a pump to supply water to your drippers.

The drippers nick linked to can also be bought at the lowecal hardware store in packs of 5 (or so). My question, though, is why use both. One time I ran a constant (albeit small)flow of nutrient over my net pots until the roots came out the bottoms. It was a lot of work to make a system server double purpose though and not really worth it. I haven't done it since. All those veggies will grow just fine in either system you mentioned, but I don't see an advantage to make a hydrid of them.
Oh! you should grow some cilantro too.

It sounds like you are talking about recirculating deep water culture. Typical systems are buckets of hydroton plumbed together at the bottom with a drip line going into the top. They work very well for growing big plants.

You can also make smaller recirculating deep water systems by simply using a water pump to lift the nutrient solution into a manifold (pipe w holes) and squirt it back downward. The movement of the water aerates it. With that design, your roots live in your reservoir, maximizing use of space.

Recirculation dwc.. That sounds more like it.. Thanks for the input.. I will see where i can purchase the drippers the cheapest and get started.. I have some seeds and nutes on the way and have my closet all shined up.. ill have some pics posted before too long.. And as for doing them both i jus dont see how my roots would get to the water if i didnt have a dripper..

You just keep the nutrient level at or a touch higher than the bottom of the net pot and let the medium wick it up. after the roots start growing out the bottom of the pots you can lower the nutrient level. Or, as I used to do, simply grow them in the pots in a flat bottom tray and hand water until the roots come out the bottom. Then you put them into the functioning system.

    Best of success.

You shouldn't really need a drip for a DWC, just a methods to produce bubbles (oxygen) in the reservoir.

Here is a very simple yet highly effective DIY Deep Water Culture System that gets a lot of comments. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxT8wceO03E
