ps, though i miss them, i am SO glad they are on to warmer territories; hence my post... maybe someone further south is seeing and feeding, fueling "my" babies (including very mature males and females) as they journey to where they are supposed to be!

I have not missed a day yet to see my hummers (Baton Rouge, LA). I have 3 or 4 every day now, feeding early at 7:00 am. They play, chase and sip most of the day.
These are female RT. The last one tonight was feeding at 6:30 pm. Temp. now 61 degrees at 9:30 pm. Forcast temp. in 80's this week.

Good for you I bet those babies are good and fat by now. The last day I saw one here was on the 29th. Feed them well and send them on their way or do you get some year round.

Just saw one at 8 AM, temp 45F. She was definitely looking a bit chubby. :)

Temp. now 69 degrees, high in 80's today. I have 2 hummers sipping and chasing this morning. Yes, they are fat, female RT. I plan on keeping 2 feeders up thru November this year, as I learned from a Louisiana hummer lover that other species come thru Louisiana in November. I would love to see a Rufous, etc. I am living in a new location, so I don't know if I am in the right path for these other beauties. My RT females are awesome, and give me and my g.children lots of joy. We can watch up close from dining room window feeders, or sit in our rockers on front porch and watch them chase. My g.dtr calls the male, "Joe the Bully," and the female "Sugar." What fun to share the hummer experience with g.children!

We (my friend and I) have been seeing them since late Aug. Usually they come and stay a week or so them move on. I have had a couple of adult males and a couple juvie males, all Ruby throated so far. Right now I have just one juvie. Last year my friend and I both had female Rufous. Would love to have them return. Our overwintering ones usually do not show up till Dec. and stay till April.

Fun to hear of your sitings! I still haven't had one at our feeders since Sept 29. Last year they came all the way through about Oct 20, and even read a newspaper article about one that wintered here, so, I'm leaving my feeders up!

Just since my last post, I've seen two hummers! Or possibly one, twice, but the first looked quite large and only saw from the back, and the second was a small young male RT. Put all fresh nectar out when I saw the first one. Then the second right at a feeder outside the window. SO fun. I'd resolved myself to thinking perhpas we'd seen our last of the season. Still was planning to keep feeders up through November.

I envy your location as you have at least a chance to see other variety of hummers especially rufous. I will keep my normal window feeder up most likely till thanksgiving just in case. Although in all the years I have done this none have showed up. Possibly Im just too far north for that too happen.

So at this point Im resigned to the fact Im done for the year and am now planning any potential changes for next year.

I am in Houston, TX now, returning home Oct. 18th. I left my feeders full, so I hope the hummers are still there when I return. Walking the neighborhood here, but I have not spotted any hummers or hummer feeders.

I've still been seeing hummers coming through and using the feeders, but mainly using the hummer plants out front. It's still hot down here in Rockport.

There was a lone hummingbird here today in the mountains of North Carolina. I have a lot of flowering plants and it was attracted to pineapple sage which is in full flower. Fortunately we have not had frost but we have come close.

Since returning from my Houston trip Oct. 18th, I have not seen any hummers. I think the two RT hummers I had for weeks have moved on. I will keep my feeders fresh thru November, in hopes that a Rufous will stop by for a sip. My hummers were awesome this year, and I look forward to next year. I will add more hummer plants and feeders next year and I appreciate the wonderful information you all have shared. Thank you!

I am in NW GA, but right on the TN line. Might as well say I live in Chattanooga. I normally have loads of Hummers feeding until October 1st. It's the oddest thing. They are there on Sept. 30th, and then I walk out the door to a quiet porch on Oct. 1st. I am still seeing them one at a time in the yard. They are mostly on the flowers, but I do see one on the feeders from time to time. I am keeping a nature journal this year, and I will document the absolute last day that I see one.~~Angie

I keep a saucer style Hummingbird feeder up all winter long here. Though I have never yet had one, I have read that there are species of Hummers other than the RTHB that do winter (Nov-March) in the Southeastern US. Of course, those would be sightings that should be reported when they occur. I am going to keep trying. Being a "glass half full" person, I just know that I will eventually have one feeding here at my house in winter!!~~Angie

Its good to hear about your sightings seems like you and I are on a similar migration route as my last sighting this year was on the 29th. Last year was my record having my last sighting on Oct 6th. I also keep a feeder up thru thanksgiving and I have never seen any kind of hummer here after oct but I keep hoping I guess.

I had not seen my juvenile for about a week and a half, then last Wed., one showed up at one of my feeders. Couldn't tell for sure but today I saw one again and it was definitely an adult male Ruby. Then later, saw another at a different feeder and it was either a female or a juvie. It flew up into the Crepe Myrtles, which still have leaves, and all of a sudden, I could see it facing off with another hummer. Both ended up landing in the CM but didn't come back down to feeder while I was there watching. Will have to keep an eye out tomorrow for them.
