It does not sound like burtonii. Seed should be small about the size of the bedding type. It sounds like you may have
I. balsamina seed. Burtonii may be ok if you can grow it in a cool area. I get very hot where I live and it survives but I cool down at night by 30 degrees. Balsamina is much easier and does well in the South from what I hear.
